Lock 33

Aaron Steven White @aaronstevenwhite.io · Jun 26 Erie Canalway Trail, Town of Henrietta, New York, US

Looking straight on at a pair of massive steel lock gates meeting in a tall central miter. Heavy horizontal girders stretch across each leaf, crossed by diagonal tension rods that draw an X through each panel. Bolt and rivet heads punctuate the bracing in a regular grid. The metal is streaked with darker water stains; below the gates, a glimpse of the lock chamber floor catches scattered light.
