Dogwood Blossoms

Close view of Kousa dogwood blossoms on a sunlit branch. Two open flowers face the camera, each with four pointed white bracts surrounding a small, bumpy central cluster of true flowers. Pointed oval leaves with prominent veining frame the blossoms; the background falls into deep shadow.

A cluster of Kousa dogwood blossoms in dappled sun, viewed slightly from above. Three flowers spread their four pointed white bracts around dark, knobby central flower heads. Broad, veined leaves cup the blossoms from below and behind; the background drops to near-black, throwing the pale bracts into sharp relief.
