Longchang Apartments (隆昌公寓)
#streetphotography #PRC #Shanghai #China The Longchang Apartments were designed by a British architect and built in the 1920s/1930s by the Shanghai Municipal Council, it originally served as the Yangshupu Police Station (and barracks/dormitories for officers). Following 1949, it briefly housed the Yangpu district branch of the Public Security Bureau before being repurposed entirely as residential quarters. It is famous for its distinctive square, enclosed "walled city" layout with a massive central courtyard and open ring-shaped corridors spanning five floors. It is designated as a protected historical site in Shanghai.
