jjuvenile mourning dove going solo and, a bundle of gazanias
Stepping out onto the front step this mayday morn, I came upon a juvenile Mourning Dove boy, whose only reaction to me was to slowly walk away, then freeze in the shadow of some strands of a hesperaloe parvaFlora AKA Coral yucca. I moved away in search of the rest of his family to circle back and find that his sister was having a face-to-face chat with him, the two of them now back in relative safety of the hedges. Meanwhile, one of his parents caught my attention, as they pretended to be unable to fly / injured, indeed my attention turned to a dove hobbling down the street, looking like Charlie Chaplin in Dove form. 🥰 All of this went down on May Day in the Phoenix Foothills in Agricultural Zone9B, in the Sonoran Desert where it was a mild breezy day. Hope your day was mild and breezy, metaphorically, as well.
