Rose told me in her halting english she sang and played at orphanages after WWII. after i told her i would love to take her photograph she ran inside to get her guitar and began to sing God Bless America. next to her in the doorway is Spin magazine with John Lennon on the cover. she explained her daughter would bring her music magazines reading them to her. behind her is the hanging sign for the neighborhood corner bar The Little Rose. this was taken in South Philly on a Nikon N2000 Tri-X film.
