The Dark Side of Paradise: Money, Hypocrisy, and the People Who Get Away With Everything
Some promotional work I did for a nightclub on Sint Maarten. I still love the images, but I'm still waiting to get paid. Sadly, I doubt I ever will. The people involved have left me with serious concerns about their business practices and other troubling allegations, including animal abuse. They now own BABA COOL in Simpson Bay, where disturbing allegations have circulated, including claims of arson and the reported disappearance of a beloved dog associated with a competing business. What happened to that poor animal? We still don't know, and that uncertainty is heartbreaking. The Caribbean is sold as paradise, but for those of us who live here, there's another side: exploitation, hypocrisy, and people who seem to believe money makes them untouchable. To be clear, this isn't about nationality. It's about specific individuals and their behaviour. Local creatives deserve to be paid. Local businesses deserve fair competition. Animals deserve protection.
